Loving Each Day...
Ronan Keating has been forced to combine his
roles as a superstar with being a super dad since
his daughter Marie was born. The millionaire
singer has revealed that it's four times as much work
looking after two children but he's 'Loving Each
Day', as he declares in his new single.
"It
is an amazing difference having another child. It's
like one is one but when you have a second it's more
like four," he said. "You think it is going to be
double what you are doing with the one but it isn't
- it is four times the amount of work. Marie is sleeping
for three, four or even five hours so I am not having
too many sleepless nights., But it's fine and we are
all doing fine. We are happy with two children and
will have to wait and see if we have any more."
Lovin' Each Day seems a more than appropriate title
for Ronan Keating's new single. He is still celebrating
becoming a dad for the second time and his solo career
seems to be going from strength to strength.
"I'm
a very happy man at the moment," he said. "I hate
using the word perfect but I do feel as though I'm
in a perfect position."
His fourth solo single is released next week and is
being tipped to reach number one. Next month he embarks
on a 21-date arena tour. He denied that Boyzone
had split up for good despite pulling out of a planned
Christmas reunion tour.
"There
is all sorts of speculation about Boyzone at the moment.
But at the end of the day I have made a commitment
to promoting my solo album and it is taking me to
America until the end of this year. I would love to
do something with the boys, maybe next year. I would
never say never."
However he reveals that he has not seen any of the
other band members recently, although he admits to
getting regular updates on how Keith Duffy
was getting on in the Celebrity Big Brother
house while he was in America.
"It was great because I was on the phone every day
finding out how he was getting on. Keith did a great
job and did everyone proud." He added that he was
no longer managing Westlife:
"I have not really been involved in the management
of Westlife for about six months now. There's nothing
else I can do for those lads. My involvement was very
much about setting up their first album for them.
I set up the way it looked and sounded then used my
name to get them a deal but that ship is now sailing
itself. I believed in Westlife from day one but nobody
imagined that they would have eight No 1's. It's scary
really."
The
star revealed that he is still terrified of flying,
a year after he got professional help to conquer his
fear. "It only came about a year ago. I had been fine
up until then. I used to love to fly and Yvonne
had even bought me helicopter flying lessons. Things
changed when our first child Jack was born.
When your first child comes along it makes you value
life a little more. Now I just get scared on planes.
I had a few dodgy flights which didn't help. I'm not
a total mess because I don't have a choice and I have
to get on flights, but I would like to be more comfortable.
I tried getting hypnotherapy but that hasn't helped.
I still end up feeling sick about flying."
He said that his last single failing to top the charts
changed his attitude to making hit records. "The Way
You Make Me Feel went in at No 6 and that changed
my view on the charts and how they work," he recalled.
"I want to have a hit record and I will do everything
within my power to sell as many records as possible
but being No 1 is not the be all and end all. I'm
developing my skills as a songwriter. I wrote 15 songs
for this album but didn't feel confident enough to
put them all on. I wanted to make a great pop album
and that meant using other writers."
