Mikey's UK tour gets Axed...

Ireland's last Boyzone star to make it into the music business as a solo artist Mikey Graham's solo UK tour has been axed - days before it was due to start. Tour promoters say his record company pulled the plug.

The news is the latest setback for Mikey, 29 - whose last solo single only got to No.62 in the charts. Mikey's record company boss says the singer is suffering from nervous exhaustion. But there is also the small matter of him shifting less than half his concert tickets according to The Sun newspaper.

John Campbell, MD of Public Records, said of the canceled tour: "This is as a result of the lack of respect Mikey has been shown. Radio stations refused to play his singles or promote his tour. Mikey also collapsed in London ten days ago. I was very worried and rushed him to a Harley Street doctor who said he was suffering from exhaustion. We felt he was not up for a tour and he is now recovering at home in Dublin."

Stuart Owen, of promoters Kennedy Street Enterprises, said: "His 18-date tour, starting on April 25, has been canceled. We were happy with sales but his record company decided it should not go ahead."

Mikey had five No.1s with Boyzone. But his debut solo single You're My Angel peaked at No.13 last June and his second, You Could Be My Everything, reached just No.62 earlier this month.
