Van the Man for Babington 24...

While veteran rocker Bob Dylan is to top the Kilkenny music festival Ireland's own rocking oldtimer Van Morrison is among the star names lined up for Britain's poshest rock festival.

Van the Man will join Toploader, Morcheeba and Supergrass in an all-star line-up at, the Somerset outpost of London club.

The event, called Babington 24, will take place on 24 June on the beautifully manicured lawns of the palatial country-house hotel near Bath.

Morrison has a recording studio in a village near Babington House. Club owner Nick Jones came up with the idea after the annual festival at Glastonbury - about ten miles away - was canceled amid security concerns.

Many of the Glastonbury acts were booked to stay at the £250-a-night hotel, so Jones decided to take advantage of the situation.

He has struck a deal with a neighboring farmer to allow 1,000-plus fans to camp at the event, which is expected to last throughout the night. For more well-heeled visitors, there will be swish 'corporate tents' at £6,000 a throw.

Among the Babington media types who are set to bring their celebrity guests to the event is Working Title, the production company behind hit films like Bridget Jones Diary.
