Elvis joins Billy Bob on stage...

Actor, director, singer and songwriter Billy Bob Thornton, last night played the first gig of his European tour in Dublin.

Due to be held in the intimate venue The Shelter, the concert was moved next door to the bigger Vicar Street, due to the large number of ticket sales.

Playing tracks such as Angelina and Starlight Lounge from his current album Private Radio, the capacity crowd also enjoyed 60's pop covers such as California Dreaming, which Billy bob will release in the future.

Speaking after the gig, Billy Bob told ShowBizIreland.com: "It was a great gig. I loved the crowd. And it was such a lovely venue."

Among those enjoying the gig were actor Brendan Gleeson, film director Jim Sheridan and Bono's wife Ali Hewson.

Billy Bob was joined by Elvis Costello towards the end of the night for an impromptu song to the absolute delight of the audience.

Speaking about Dublin, Billy Bob said: "I arrived on Saturday and got a chance to walk around Dublin and see what it's like. I loved what I saw. I had a great chance to chill out here."
