Caine to be Played by Marky Mark...

Oscar winning actor Michael Caine, currently making The Actors in Dublin, will soon be played by by former underwear model Marky Mark.

Planet of the Apes star Mark Wahlberg is to star in a remake of one of Caine's biggest films, The Italian Job.

The new film, also titled The Italian Job, is based on the 1969 heist picture which starred Caine, Noel Coward, and Benny Hill.

Variety in LA reports that the Mini Cooper cars used for a chase sequence in the original will appear prominently in the revamped film. But while the original was a gold heist set entirely in Europe, the new version will begin in Italy, with the robbery taking place in LA.

Wahlberg will play Caine's character of Charlie Croker, a career criminal who heads the crew which masterminds a massive gold bullion raid.

The robbery is made possible when they create the largest traffic jam in LA history. The criminals then use the Minis to travel on pavements and the subway system while the city and the police are immobilised.
