Townsend's
an Extraordinary Gentleman...
According
to ShowBizIreland.com sources an Irish actor
is being lined up for the new movie The League
of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
Reports
from Hollywood claim that filmmakers are seeking Dublin
born Stuart Townsend for the role of Dorian
Gray in the comic book based movie.
The actor is perhaps best known for his turn as the
Vampire Lestat in the recently released Queen
of the Damned. His other credits include About
Adam, Trojan Eddie, and Resurrection Man.
He had been cast as Aragorn in the Lord
of the Rings but was replaced by Viggo Mortensen.
Apparently
Townsend has only auditioned for the role of Gray
and has not yet entered into negotiations for the
part. Saffron Burrows, is also up for the role
of Mina Harker.
Dorian
Gray is the title character of Oscar Wilde's
1890 classic The Picture of Dorian Gray, which
is about a man who seems to defy the aging process.
He leads a decadent lifestyle for years but only his
portrait shows signs of age. The
question is has Gray sold his soul to stay forever
young?
Thanks
to IGN
FilmForce for the heads up.
