We have heard in the past that is easier to get close to Elvis then it is to get close to Gareth Gates - but even here on our home turf of Dublin the rumour rang true.

When we got the tip-off last night that UK Popstar Gareth Gates was in La Stampa restaurant, we thought it would just be a matter of waiting outside for the young singer to pose for a photograph, little did we know...

On leaving the cover version singer was rushed past ShowBiz Ireland photographers as if 'Elvis was leaving the building' under tight security.

We managed to get one photo of the side of his face but wouldn't it have been easier for him just to stop and pose?

Apparently Gareth was in Dublin for dinner with producers from BMG Records which included the infamous Simon Cowell (who somehow managed to get by us aswell).

Damn these wily ShowBiz types!
