Hitchhikers
Thumb to Dublin...
The movie Premiere of The Hitchhiker's Guide to
the Galaxy was held in Dublin's UGC this
week and saw a number of faces from the film's lineup
beside some Irish stars to see this long awaited flick...

It
may have been twenty years in the making and unfortunately
saw the demise of its creator Douglas Adams
before its completion but finally The Hitchhiker's
Guide to the Galaxy has made it to the Big Screen!

For
a long time it looked like that the late Douglas Adams
would have to hit his own 'infinite improbability
drive' to get his book made into a movie but with
the financial backing of Disney and Martin
Freeman (The Office) in the lead role The
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is opening at a cinema
near you from tomorrow...

And
although we didn't get the full cast from the movie
at the Irish Premiere in the UGC this week Hammer
& Thongs producers Nick Goldsmith and
Garth Jennings lined-up beside that marvelous
British actor Bill Nighty (who plays Slartibartfast)
to give our photographers something to aim at.

Without
going into too much detail HGTG sees normal guy
Arthur Dent (Mark Freeman) on an adventure that
would best be described as Red Dwarf meets
Monty Python after the Earth is blown up to
make-way for a hyperspace bypass.

The
concepts are amazing and hilarious and the look of
the film is almost perfect with Jim Henson's
Vogons fitting perfectly into this insane world.

So
if you like your comedy on the bizarre side or if
you just want to take your mind to a place it's never
been before go and see this movie... Even if it's
just for the Infinite Improbability Drive!
The
only negative thing that took away from the movie
is that there are so many great characters and concepts
to fit into a mere 110 minutes - at times you are
left feeling that the pace is a bit off in places.
