Slaine & Nora: Irish Gals In That London...
We've been harping on about the severe lack of Irish actresses out there doing-it in the world when compared to Irish actors. But there are SOME trying folks. Working gals Slaine Kelly & Nora-Jane Noone are over in that London at the moment making names for themselves in the movie industry. We caught up with them at the 'Beyond The Fire' UK Premiere last week....

Slaine Kelly, Nora-Jane Noone |
Here at the ShowBiz of IE we're always going on and on and on (and on some more) about how Irish lasses just don't seem to make the grade on the Hollywood circuit like our leading lads do. Thankfully, some of our female fan readers just happen to be actresses and are hell bent on smashing that trend. About feckin' time. STAKE IT UK!

Slaine Kelly, Nora-Jane Noone |
Two of our hot hopes for the future are actresses Slaine Kelly and Nora-Jane Noone. Both of them have bravely waved goodbye to these emerald shores (and any prospect of a role in Fairly Shitty) and set themselves up across the water in that London. Annnd, we're happy to report, both are working. In actual films.

Patrick Fischer, Slaine Kelly, Frank Mannion, Maeve Murphy (Director), Nora-Jane Noone |
We caught up with Slaine and Nora-Jane last week at the Premiere of an Irish movie with a plot set in London... 'Beyond The Fire' opened at the London Independent Film Festival and we can exclusively report that the Maeve Murphy directed feature won Best Film at the LIFF. Well done all concerned.

Scot Williams (Lead Actor), Maeve Murphy (Director), Cara Seymour (Lead Actress), Helen Alexander (Producer) |
Our wee Slaine is currently in a relationship with German film producer Patrick Fischer (leave it to her to find a German called Patrick!) and has two new films in-the-can; 'Zonad' & 'Vivid'. She's off to the Cannes Film Festival with her production crew to try to land movie distribution deals later next month... Nora-Jane is working on 'The Descent: Part 2' and 'The Day of the Triffids'.

Scot Williams (Lead Actor), Cara Seymour (Lead Actress) |
Starring Scot Williams & Cara Seymour, 'Beyond The Fire' tells the story of Sheamy (Williams), a gentle Irish ex-priest who arrives in London and finds himself in a romance with Katie (Seymour). Their intense romance is short-lived and begins to collapse when the past comes back to haunt them. The movie premiered at Curzon Cinema in Soho last week... Hopefully we'll get an Irish premiere screening too.
