Collette Star Treks For Clozure...
You can't keep a good Donegal woman down folks. And it seems former Irish Army Lieutenant Collette McBarron has bounced-back after her much publicised court martial and subsequent resignation from the Defense Forces. We caught up with the eldest McBarron sis (and her Clozure boyband chum) at the Star Trek Premiere afterparty this week...

Collette McBarron, Andy Rice (Clozure) |
We all know it's a hard slog for a woman to make it in a male oriented world, so it's probably many times harder to make it in the traditionally macho military environment. But when the Lieutenant in question happens to be a pretty blonde wannabe Beauty Queen with penchant for appearing in the Social Diary pages on the arms of famous men, there was always gonna be trouble.

So when 2nd Lt Collette McBarron stepped out from behind the army beret and attempted to replace it with a Miss Ireland tiara, things started to go wrong for the Northern lass. The military babe's double life of early morning parades at Cathal Brugha Barracks and late nights at Krystle nightclub put a lot of noses out of joint, eventually forcing the Donegal native to quit her post.

Collette McBarron & Clozure (Paul Hughes, Jo Petit, Andy Rice, Ryan Davis) |
But with all the media fuss and focus on our Collette, the usually camera friendly blonde kept an understandable low profile over the past few weeks... That was until Tuesday night when she attended the Irish Premiere of the most excellent Star Trek movie and afterparty at Sycamore club. Miss McBarron seemed to back to her old self and even took a shine to boyband hunk Andy Rice and his big red strawberry! Ahem. Well, it's about time she got some 'Clozure' on all that army nonsense! (See what we did there folks? Genius!)

Hayley Rock, Veronica Ryan |
Most of Dublin's social butterflies attended the Star Trek red carpet event at The Savoy this week. And all you doubters out there, who think Star Trek is tres naff, check this film out. Really. It rocked! At the end of this re-imagined sci-fi epic, Trekkies and non Trekkies alike, gave this film the biggest round of applause we can remember in recent memory. As the guests poured out of the O'Connell Street cinematorium and made their way to the Sycamore club afterparty in Temple Bar, our naughty snapper jumped out and pappped the hell outta Lillies hostess Hayley Rock and her hat designer pal Veronica 'Ronnie' Ryan. Both shocked beauties instinctively jumped into karate stances with handbags at the ready wallop our lens-man! All you would-be muggers beware. Don't mess with these kung-fu fillies. Hiiyaaaaa!

Sara Kavanagh |
Both Hayley and Veronica were joined at Sycamore by red haired fashion designer Dawn Fitzgerald who is just freshly back in Dublin after a stint working for big name brands in the Far East... (Maybe that's where they picked up those slick Martial Arts moves?)

Elaine Crowley, Jim O'Leary |
Other guests at the Star Trek afterparty included model Sara Kavanagh, TV3's Elaine Crowley, Jim O'Leary, Aaron Weinerib, and the rest of the Clozure boys: Paul Hughes, Jo Petit & Ryan Davis. And many more... Live long and prosper folks, and go easy on the McMunter comments!
