Bono
misses Ronnie's party to play with new toy...
It
proves the point. Boys never grow up... their toys
just get more expensive and ShowBizIreland.com
should have seen it coming. Especially when Bono
gave his 1980 Mercedes banger to charity for
the Postcard to Ethiopia event last Saturday
night in Killiney Castle near his home which
raised £40,000 by the way.
With the banger out of the way the coast was clear
for everyone's favourite rocker to splash out. Two
weeks ago, Bono bought himself a brand-new out-of-the-box
00D Mercedes 600 cl in burgundy with all the
extras including a built-in back massager in the seats.
Price tag? Well for a basic model you are talking
around 144,295.00 Irish punts. But, for the Bono special
you could be talking in and around £200,000
($350,000.) Twice the price of your average Ferrari.
The
only thing is when Bono saw his new toy he didn't
like the colour and decided to send it back. So, a
week later his new second new car arrived and what
colour did Bono want? Brown. Don't ask we, we can't
figure it out either.
Furthermore
Bono's new car meant he missed a night on the town
with Ronnie Wood from the Rolling Stones
who also lives in Ireland. On Saturday week a classic
rock-and-roll night with the boys was being organised.
Everyone's favourite pop star Bono was invited but
was running late. Obviously
too busy with his new car.
In
Lillies, the party was being held by Kildare's
number two citizen (after the Irish Minister for
Finance Charlie McCreevy, of course). Ron Wood
from the Rolling Stones was out of The Priory clinic
and ready for action.
Ron had invited some guy from sixties band The
Faces and some of their friends for a night out
with Bono. By 1am in Lillies, the party boys had moved
from the VIP bar to the V-Vip bar in Lillies. Everything
was going to plan... except for Bono, the party pooper,
looked like he wasn't even going to show at all. And
as for Ron. He was on the Ballygowan water.
By
2am, having given up on Bono, Ron gave ShowBizIreland.com
a shy goodbye as he descended the stairs of Lillies
en route to Renards nightclub for some more
Ballygowan.
Sources
close to Ron told ShowBizIreland.com that since
Saturday night, after Ron was stood up by Bono, the
Rolling Stone fled to the South of France for a holiday.
The sources also denied reports that Ron had given
orders to close down the pub in his garden in Kildare.
"He was in hospital with his liver and the doctors
told him to go easy on the drink. He has not got the
bar removed from his house. Things aren't that bad."
