Holly's Fashionable Uprising...
Dan & Becs star Holly White (who ironically is actually that posh in real life) has stepped away from the shaky-cam hoisted in her car for the moment and relaunched herself as a nouveau chic fashion icon. The actress with a handful of models & designers opened 'Uprising' in Temple Bar last evening...

You know what folks? We kinda miss Dave Coffey's wee hit show Dan & Becs. Let's face it, the low budget big idea was one of the most original things to hit Irish screens in a long time. With Holly White being the run-away star of the sit-com, it was hard not to be impressed as she played-up the posh South Dublin stereotype...

And she has quickly put her new found love of apparel into action as yesterday she launched Fashion Breakthrough's Uprising event in Temple Bar's Meeting House Square.

Laura Rowat, Heidi Higgins (Designer) |
The Uprising event is the second biannual showcase of emerging Irish design from August 17th to 22nd - 13 young fashion creators proudly show-off their intensively cultivated wares to the public, the press and most importantly – fashion industry types.

The Uprising event also features a Pop-Up boutique on uber cool and bustling Cow's Lane in Temple Bar. For the six days it will be selling some of Ireland's most cutting-edge collections for Autumn/Winter 2009.

Deirdre Harte (Designer), Evanna Mills |
So there it is folks, we are in the midst of a crazy fashion uprising in Dublin as we speak - get out there and spend your hard-earned on emerging Irish designers and their produce...

And for God's sake can someone bring back the Dan & Becs show? The recession is a perfect parody for these two gormless characters - plus we miss 'em.
