Boyzone
will tour again...
Boyzone
will tour again at the end of next year to prove to
fans that they haven't split up. Keith Duffy
has told the Mirror that all five members of
the group want to get back together and perform next
November and December. The concerts will be staged
at major arenas around the UK and Ireland including
The Point Theatre and Odyssey Arena
in Belfast.
"We
have not split up and these live concerts are going
to prove it to the fans once and for all," Keith said.
"We will be performing in big arenas around the UK
and Ireland - there will be around ten concerts, maybe
more. "I spoke to Ronan Keating last night
and he is enthusiastic about it and so is everyone
else. "There's been a lot of rubbish about us splitting
up but we're still together. "We will probably make
the official announcement about the show on a special
day like Valentines or St.Patricks. "It will be a
big day for us - the day when we tell the world that
we are still together."
There
have been strong rumours that Boyzone are about to
call it a day since Ronan Keating's success in the
solo pop world. Former manager Louis Walsh
fuelled speculation when he appeared on the Kelly
Show and announced that the group was over and
he was no longer managing them.
Keith
revealed that he has felt down and sorry for himself
since Boyzone went their separate ways in January.
"I've felt a bit sorry for myself to be honest, but
I always pick myself up again. "I made a mistake and
took Boyzone for granted. As soon as it was all over
I started missing it. "There have been really hard
times like when Ronan's been up performing at big
awards ceremonies. "It makes you really miss the buzz
of being right at the centre of the pop world. "There
is nothing that can replace the amazing buzz of being
on stage and touring in a big pop band. "I have really
missed it, far more than I though I ever would."
The
group will meet in a London hotel next week - the
first time they have all been together in 11 months.
"We were going to have a meeting in Dublin but now
we've changed it to London so we can have more privacy,"
he said. "This is the first time we have all been
in a room together since the start of the year. "So
we're aware that there would be a big media frenzy
around it back home. "We are going to have something
to eat and have a few drinks and make some plans.
"Everyone wants to talk about the tour so we've set
the date to get things organised."
Keith
and Boyzone mate Shane Lynch released their
spoof duet, Girl You Know It's True. The pair
launch a cynical attack on the pop business in the
song: "We are not really worried about how well it
will do in the charts," said Keith. "We just recorded
it for a bit of fun and because we were missing the
music business. "Some people have taken it all a bit
too seriously but we're just having a laugh."
He
denied that Shane's bizarre confession that he was
in touch with the other side was a publicity stunt
to launch their song. "He has always been in touch
with the other side since the early days of Boyzone,
Some people may laugh but it's true. "He's not a devil
worshipper or anything crazy like that, it all got
blown out of proportion. "He is fascinated with The
Sixth Sense movie - he can really identify with
it."
