Irish
Pop takes over the World...
Irish
pop sensations The Corrs, Westlife, Samantha Mumba
and Ronan Keating are taking over the world
and that's a fact. Westlife picked up six of the top
awards at the UK's Smash Hits ceremony crushing
all over their competition totally. Before heading
over Nicky and Brian took time out for
a drink with ShowBizIreland.com in Dublin where
they explained how happy they were at the moment.
"Everything is great," Nicky said "We
are all so happy and everything is going so well.
We could not ask for more. That's except Brian who
fell of a motorbike filming a our new video during
the week."
In
the meantime Samantha Mumba, won best new female artist
at the Smash Hits awards while Ronan Keating won both
best dressed and worst dressed male awards.
It
was also revealed over the weekend that Ronan and
his wife Yvonne are expecting their second
boy after Christmas. As for the Dundalk stunners The
Corrs. Well, they are flying the Irish flag in America!
Last week the group received a My VH-1 Music Award
for the "Best Kept Secret." The award was voted entirely
by music fans and VH-1 viewers. The "Breathless"
video is on high rotation on VH-1. On December 10th
The Corrs performed their favorite Christmas songs
for the TNT network program "Christmas In Washington."
The Christmas special will benefit the Children's
National Medical Center. U.S. President Bill Clinton
and wife Hilary were among the honoured guests
for the hour-long concert special premiering on the
TNT network Sunday, December 17.
The
Corrs high-profile TV events, national radio and video
presence have resulted in RIAA certified gold US sales
(500,000 units) of "IN BLUE."
This
album has sold over 4 million units outside of America
and has reached No. 1 in 20 Countries. Since making
their debut five years ago with "FORGIVEN, NOT
FORGOTTEN" followed in 1997 by "TALK ON CORNERS"
and "UNPLUGGED" in 1999, The Corrs have sold
over 20 million albums worldwide.
