Townsend bitter over lost Aragorn role...

Irish actor Stuart Townsend has blasted the makers of Lord of the Rings for treating him badly on the set of the movie before he lost the role of Aragorn.

"Basically it was a shit experience. The way I was treated was quite unbelievable. When I came out I went straight into theatre. It's a hard one to talk about because it's very complicated and would take a long time to unravel. I had made four or five films that had not really gone anywhere and I realized that the key roles were being offered to actors who had one big hit. I knew I had to do something big budget that would be seen out there," he told the Irish press.

Once Townsend was off the movie the film makers hired Viggo Mortensen to replace him.

Speaking on taking the role Viggo said, "I didn't have much time to think about it. I decided that if I didn't do it, it would be something I would regret later."

Since the LOTR has been made Townsend, who comes from Howth in Dublin (where U2's drummer Larry Mullen also lives), has made 24 hours with Kevin Bacon and Courtney Cox as well as his current girlfriend Charlize Theron.
