Fight
Club Hits Dublin, 'ARD!
Dublin saw the raw and brutal Fight Club, along
with infamous former London gangster and author Dave
Courtney, hit the capital hard last weekend.

The
setting was the National Stadium in Dublin
where a mixture of Irish, Russian, South African,
and New Zealand fighters gathered in both heavyweight
and light-heavy divisions to battle for the Irish
Fight Club title.

The
prize money was 2500 euro for the two winners and
500 euro for the two runners up... And boy did those
guys earn their winnings!
Most
of the fighters had a little boxing or martial arts
experience but some were just raw street fighters.
The
Dublin crowd warmed up very quickly as the bouts spilled
over the allotted 90 second rounds and fighters had
to be torn apart by the experienced refereeing staff.
Almost all fights had at least one knock down and
there were a number of fights that were stopped in
the first round.

Most
notable fighter on the night was heavy weight South
African Morne Beutes who stopped his first
two competitors in under 50 seconds before being beaten
in the final by Dubliner Dave Crowley by an
audience decision even though he was a clear winner.
In
the light-heavy division final New Zealander Norun
Katene beat his Russian opponent by audience decision.

Promoter
Dean Smith intends to take the Fight Club all
over Ireland next year and have the ultimate final
in Dublin, so watch this space for details.
