Katy Ellen French Remembered...
This weekend marked the first anniversary of the tragic passing of Katy Ellen French. Her mother Janet, father John and sister Jill celebrated the life of the vivacious model with her friends and showbiz colleagues at the graveside in the grounds of St Patrick's Church, Enniskerry...

Katy French Tribute |
The theme of remembrance at the first memorial ceremony for Katy French this weekend was a single white rose, her favourite flower. Keeping with that motif model and singer Michele McGrath sang a rendition of 'The Rose' by Bette Midler at the graveside, surrounded by other mourners.

Despite the misdirected media frenzy last week focusing on irrelevant things like who was and wasn't invited to the private ceremony, who has and hasn't garnished publicity from the model's death, and who Katy was and wasn't dating in her last few weeks - the memorial remembrance was a calm, moving and loving ceremony.

Looking at these intimate and heartbreaking pictures of Katy's family laying flowers on her grave, it's very apparent to us now that although the Katy French tragedy rapidly became the biggest story to capture the public’s attention last year, all that really matters in relation to her untimely death are the three people in the above photo - John, Janet and Jill French.

After all, everyone else who knew Katy French has got on with their lives. Sadly her mother, father and sister will take a long, long time to get over her death. We suppose it doesn't help their healing process if the press insist on dramatizing every single aspect and individual surrounding Katy's death on their front pages.

We reckon it’s time for the media to put Katy French's death to bed and allow her family to start the grieving process in private. Last Saturday marked one year since the model took her final breath in the arms of her sister Jill, we sincerely hope it will also mark the end of the press speculation, rumour and finger-pointing. It's time for Katy French to be allowed to rest in peace.

Katy's friends and work colleagues Brendan O'Connor, Michael O'Doherty, Sara Kavanagh, Michele McGrath, Chris De Burgh, Mickey Joe Harte, and many more attended the Enniskerry ceremony last Saturday morning. Many more who didn’t attend remembered her too...

After the ceremony mourners moved to the Ritz Carlton for a spot of lunch and to exchange stories and tales about Ireland's most famous and controversial model. They celebrated her life and mourned her death.
