McGowan in Dublin & on the Jar...

Irish wildman Shane McGown has secretly been recording a new album in Dublin's Sun City studious but not as a singer. The former Pogues singer has been staying in Blooms hotel in Temple bar since mid January which is the closest hotel to his favorite watering hole Eamon Doran's in Temple bar.

With his bills paid by his manager Joey Cashman, Shane, has been voluntarily spending his days in the Sun city studious in Temple bar making an album for a band.

The band are managed by a guy called Gaffo who was a roadie with The Pogues. However, Shane has one surprise up his sleeve. He is staying in Dublin until the 28th of February when he will hold a secret gig in Doran's with The Pogues coverband The Popes.

Shane has been drinking in the bar everynight since he arrived. However, in all that time friends of the singer say he's only been really drunk on one night.

Eamon Doran's was the bar where Bono took Andrea Corr to meet Huey Morgan from the band the Fun Lovin' Criminals from New York who are best friends with owner Dermot Doran and are rumoured to be in the line up as a support act for U2 in Slane this year. The Corrs are also being rumoured to be on the U2 Slane lineup.
