Eubank's knockout time in Dublin...

Retired boxing legend and controversial social commentator Chris Eubank had the welcome mat placed warmly outside some of Dublin's hot-spots last weekend.

Not since Jack Charlton became an honorary Irish man have we witnessed such hero worship to a non national. Hoards of usually un-forthcoming and celeb weary socialites couldn't help but shake his hand and chat to the outspoken hero.

Chris himself seemed shocked but very open to the Dublin VIP crowd as they 'one by one' introduced themselves in the members bar of Lillies Bordello.

Actually ShowBiz Ireland also got caught up in the hullabaloo but only because Chris was sitting next to our table. When we asked him whether he still kept up his rigorous fitness routine he intimated that his kids now take precedence in his life.

"I used to do a rope climb every morning in the garden but have since taken it down. Karron and I fear the children may try to climb it and hurt themselves".

Chris and charming wife Karron chatted with friends 'till the early hours in Lillies. He also turned up Cocoon bar the following night but this time minus the monocle, riding boots and walking stick.

Maybe Chris realised that in Dublin it takes more than clothes to make the man...
