Irish Rock & Pop taking over...

Irish boyband Westlife yesterday joined up with Coca Cola in what looks like the first of many marketing deals between the soft drink giant and the five Irish lads. Hundreds of fans turned up yesterday in the St Stephens Green Shopping centre in Dublin for the launch of the one Million pound Coca Cola giveaway in which Westlife's Nicky Byrne and Kian Egan were special guests.

However, the bands launch was over shadowed by news that fellow Irish bands U2 and The Corrs had been nominated for the prestigious Grammy Awards in Los Angeles next month.

U2 have been nominated for three awards including Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Rock performance for Beautiful Day. A spokesperson for the Dublin band said they were "delighted" at the announcement.

Fellow Irish band The Corr's also received two nominations including Best Pop Performance and Best Pop Instrumental Performance for their backing theme on the TV show Rebel Heart.
