The
Corrs cancel on The Prince...
Irish supergroup The Corrs yesterday got a
boat back to Ireland after canceling a royal gala
concert in London and rescheduled six other shows
because the lead singer has an ear infection. Speaking
to ShowBizIreland.com exclusively The Corrs
publicist in Ireland said "Andrea Corr got
an ear infection on Saturday in Cannes. It
was not gone by the next day so we had to get a doctor.
She's been told to take 10 days off and because she
can't fly due to the ear infection she had to get
the boat back to Ireland today."
The
infection has forced the band to axe the show at the
Royal Albert Hall next Monday, which the
Prince of Wales was to attend. The
six concerts in the last week of the band's "In
Blue" tour have also had to be rescheduled
to dates in April.
Andrea
(26), the youngest member of the band, was instructed
by doctors not to perform for at least two weeks,
a record company spokeswoman said. "Unless she
has complete rest from touring and performing at this
time, she is likely to incur permanent damage,"
she added.
Band
member Jim Corr said: "This is the first
time in our career that we have had to pull shows.
We are really sorry to disappoint the fans, and look
forward to making it up to them."
Prince
Charles asked the group to play in aid of his Prince's
Trust after he saw them perform at Party In The
Park last summer.
Organisers
said it would not be possible to reschedule the gala
concert at the Royal Albert Hall. A spokesman for
the Prince said yesterday: "He is very disappointed
and hopes Andrea will make a speedy recovery."
The Corrs, whose hits include "I Never Loved
You Anyway, and, Breathless... will now
reschedule concerts in Aberdeen, Newcastle, Sheffield,
Nottingham and Manchester.
