Hates his Irish Roles...
One-time Irish based method actor Daniel Day-Lewis
has revealed he quit making movies for five years
as he hates all the roles he has played in the past.
He
told the press recently: "I quit acting for five
years because I hated my movies."
The
ellusive eccentric, who is hotly tipped to grab an
Oscar for his performance in Martin Scorsese's
Gangs of New York (which opens in Ireland this
Friday), has hit out at his acclaimed roles in Irish
movies such as My Left Foot, In the Name
of the Father, and The Boxer as he ended
up feeling depressed about his performaces.
The
45 year old said about his performances, "A general
sense of having fallen short. It's just, 'Is that
all it was? I thought it was bigger than that'. It
always seems terribly small to me."
Day-Lewis
is rumoured to be attending the Irish premiere of
'Gangs' tomorrow night.
