Graham is UK King of Comedy...

Ireland's over-the-top comic Graham Norton has been named as the most powerful person in UK comedy by the The Radio Times now that he is moving to the BBC.

He may be the hardest working man in ShowBiz with his five-night-a-week show on Channel 4, V Graham Norton, but his hard graft has paid off with massive success in the USA and a financially attractive contract with the BBC.

Graham has been enticed over to the BBC to "save Saturday night television" later this spring and the result of the move means he has pushed The Office star Ricky Gervais off the top of The Times' list.

Peter Kay of Pheonix Nights was listed at number 2.

The Radio Times said: "Having finally succumbed to the BBC's chequebook and invitation to save Saturday night television, coupled with his increasing popularity in the US, Graham Norton raced into the top position in this year's list with relative ease. Ironically, having borrowed the American format of the late night chat show and made it his own, he's now exporting it back across the Atlantic."
