Woody
to honour the Fleadh...
Ex-Cheers star Woody Harrelson will
be guest of honour at the Galway Film Fleadh
this month. Woody-who played Woody Boyd in
the long-running TV comedy will introduce a documentary
about cannabis, which he narrates, called Grass.
The
Fleadh is to screen 60 films. It opens with the world
premiere of Rat, by director Steve Barron,
a black comedy starring Father Ted actor Frank
Kelly with music by Bob Geldof.
And
it is due to close with the long-awaited debut of
Kevin Liddy's Country, a powerful drama about
the tensions between locals and travelers.
Festival spokeswomen Paula Shield said: "Another
highlight from this year's packed programme is the
Irish premiere of Borstal Boy, a first feature
from theatre director and author Peter Sharidan."
