Sister
Sinead's Web Charity...
Irish
singer Sinead O'Connor and Thomas Dolby
are taking the Irish and world charity scene to all
new levels thesedays. The two are all prepped to post
the first-ever charity single to be sold on the Internet
(with the help of a batch of other artists, like Coldcut's
Matt Black and Dreadzone's Tim Dread).
These
prolific musicians used only the resources of the
World Wide Web to create and record a new rendition
of Bob Marley's "Them Belly Full (but we hungry),"
to be distributed over the net, with all proceeds
going to War Child - a charity aimed at easing
the suffering of children living in war zones.
All
involved artists worked from various locales throughout
the world, and completed the song in a single hour.
If you would like to listen to the song, you shall
pay £1.00 to protect copyright and prevent the single
from being traded about for free, artists enlisted
the aid of the British company Magex and its
digital commerce management software.
The
single will eventually see a proper release, along
with seven hours of beat-inspired tunes from ISP Yesmate.com
and Magex software, on a War Child MP3 CD-Rom, which
will come along with 50,000 July issues of DJ Magazine.
You can also get it through www.warchild.org.uk.
Amen
Sister Sinead....
