Britney
Spears too big for Ireland?...
Reports
are flying around the emerald isle about a rumoured
concert by the US teen star Britney Spears.
Spears has told one Irish newspaper that she wants
to play in Ireland to thank her fans who have supported
her from day one.
This
however conflicts with reports from Irish concert
promoter Jim Aiken. Speaking to ShowBizIreland.com
exclusively Aiken said that he had tried to get the
teenage star to Ireland for a concert but her tickets
prices would have to be lowered.
"We
haven't got the venues in Ireland that they have in
other parts of Europe for a concert that seats 12,000
or 13,000 like Britney's. So, we would have to have
it at the Point which only holds 5,000 or so.
Therefore Britney would have had to lower here prices
for tickets and her management or whoever makes that
decision would not do that," Aiken said.
Speaking
to the Irish News of the World newspaper Britney
hinted at a secret gig in Ireland. "I want to play
in your country as a thank-you to the fans who have
supported me from day one. It would be very fitting
because Ireland was the first country to show interest
in me as a musician."
Spears
went on to say "At the moment I am in discussion with
my management to try and sort out gigs in Dublin.
The fans deserve it and they are very special to me."
