More
bad luck for Townsend...
Irish actor Stuart Townsend has had more bad
luck career-wise this week with terrible news from
America. Not only did the Irish actor lose out on
the highly coveted role of Strider/Aragorn
in the Lord of The Rings movies, But now it
appears that his latest movie: Queen of the Damned
is bypassing cinemas all together and heading straight
to video.
Viggo Mortensen has replaced Townsend in LOTR
because Peter Jackson felt that Townsend didn't
look old enough in costume to fit the character.
Queen
of the Damned is the sequel to the Neil Jordan
directed Interview with The Vampire, in which
Townsend plays the Vampire Lestat - portrayed
by Tom Cruise in the first film.
Originally
scheduled to open in October, Warner movies now plans
to concentrate on it's bigger projects; and leave
"Queen" to the video crowd.
Reason?
the acting is apparently not up to scratch; and the
film hasn't got the budget to make it as good as it
could have been; nor does it intended to promote it
enough.
Just
a couple of days ago, Anne Rice announced her
plans for a third film in the series, Ramses the
Damned and the name, Laurence Fishburne,
was mentioned.
