Oasis'
Golden Oldies Are Tops...
Ireland may be getting ready for the Oasis'
Witness invasion next but their fans reckon
the band have not made a decent track for years.
According to a recent survey, fans were asked to choose
the quintet's all-time greats for a Q magazine
Oasis special, not one song since 1995 features until
number 30 in the list.
The
chart is headed by their classic third single Live
Forever which only reached number 10 when it was
released way back in 1994.
Singles, B-sides and album tracks released between
1993 and 1995 make up the top 29. Songs from the band's
third and fourth albums Be Here Now and Standing
On The Shoulder Of Giants are largely relegated
to the lower reaches of the top 50.
However,
the title track of Be Here Now an album dating back
to 1997 which songwriter and guitarist Noel Gallagher
now reckons is rubbish does weigh in at number 30.
The band still continue to sell well but do not sell
anywhere near their 90s peak when they at one point
held the record for the fastest selling album of all
time with Be Here Now.
Their
fifth studio release Heathen Chemistry is on
course to top the album chart this weekend and they
are currently playing a series of major sell-out shows
around the UK before arriving in Ireland next week.
Lets
hope they don't forget their classics...
