Roisin's Miss Afterdark Traits...

Miss Ireland time must be rolling around again folks as we can't help bumping into throngs of bikini clad young ladies strolling around nightclubs with numbers glued to their hips. Afterdark.ie was early off the mark last weekend when they crowned Roisin Trait as their 2009 representative going forward to the popular beauty pageant...

We don't know whether it’s The Rose of Tralee, The Lovely Girls competition in Father Ted, or former Miss Ireland Andrea Roche's preoccupation with running Miss World and Miss Universe competitions... But wee Ireland certainly has the biggest interest in beauty pageants ANYWHERE in the Western World.

No matter where you throw a beauty contest in this tiny country, as long as there is a tiara and a sash on the go, the lovely girls will turn up in numbers vying for the crown. Not that we're complaining or anything, it's just a strange cultural phenomenon, that's all... Put simple: Irish women loved being judged on their looks.

Last weekend Mr. Afterdark himself, Ivano Cafolla, hooked-up with Assets model Ruth O'Neill to host the annual Miss Afterdark.ie beauty contest in Dandelion Bar on St Stephen’s Green... And we all know that most of Ivano's choices over the years have gone on to represent Ireland in Miss World, so we thought we'd have a wee gander at the talent on show.

As usual at The Miss Afterdark.ie show, there was as many hot women in the audience and on the judging panel as there were competing for the title...

Top Irish models Julie Kavanagh, Kerri Ingram, Sarah Morrissey, Karena Graham, and quite a few more were there checking out the new draft of potential catwalk talent that could be looking for their photocall queen dollars in the coming year and beyond. Many of the girls on the books of model agencies like Assets and Compton were originally scouted at beauty pageants.

Other guests and judges on the night included personal trainer Alan Byrne, nightclub boss Keith Forlan, the other Afterdarker Paolo Cafolla, Leah O'Brien, Ailbhe Byrne, Terrie McEvoy, Rob Lawless, and many more...

Ok the contest... Ellen McEvoy, Roisin Trait and Ciara Plant got down to the last three but Miss Trait pipped them all at the post and grabbed the Afterdark.ie title. Ellen McEvoy got 1st Runner Up and Ciara Plant got 2nd Runner Up.

So there you have it folks - Roisin Trait is Miss Afterdark.ie 2009 and will be now looking to the upcoming Miss Ireland contest... Like, where would yis be without us?
