Oxegen Stars Jet In & Out...
Wow, what a car-azy wet weekend it was folks. This year we made the executive decision hound all of the Oxegen Festival Acts at the airport and at their hotels rather than at the Punchestown venue - mainly because we applied for our accreditation too feckin’ late! And after all that messing around in the teeming rain we still didn't manage to snap Lady Gaga...

Eric Avery, Stephen Perkins, Dave Navarro (Jane's Addiction) |
We've said it before on these oh so hallowed pages - celebs are like buses; you wait around forever for one to come along and then like ten come at once... At the weekend like 20 or 30 or 40 of them came at once and made rather abrupt visits to Ireland to play The Oxegen Festival 2009.

Perry Farrell (Jane's Addiction) |
The reason why most bands and artists were in for such short periods of time was most acts were simultaneously hitting 'T in the Park' in Scotland, and a few other European music festivals, as well as Oxegen. Most celebs didn't even stay the night at Dublin hotel, opting to jet in and out on the same day...

Johnny Borrell (Razorlight) |
Due to all the craziness (and a serious lack of accreditation) we staked out the regular hotels and the arrival lounge of Dublin airport and still managed to grab shots of acts such as Blur, The Saturdays, The Pet Shop Boys, Katy Perry, Pete Doherty, Manic Street Preachers, Razorlight, Jane's Addiction, and quite a few more... No bad you might say?

But to be honest folks, all we really just wanted was a few shots of Lady Gaga and her latest weird and wonderful outfit. Sadly, after three whole days outside the hotel she was rumoured to be booked into, Miss Gaga was a fricken no-show. We almost went GaGa. The outrageous singer must have flown in and out and avoided an over-night stay in Dublin... Grrrrrr.

James Dean Bradfield (Manic Street Preachers) |
So there you have it folks, Oxegen weekend came and went and we didn't go anywhere near a soggy and sodden Punchestown... Screw it - next year we're going on holiday at festival time. To somewhere hot and dry or perhaps to a country with a roof on.
