Sharon
Stone to
film Welles classic in Ireland...
Basic Instinct star Sharon Stone, who
is a regular visitor to Ireland and also set to film
here later this year has adopted and baby boy. After
several attempts to have their own children, the 42-year-old
sex symbol and her husband, Phil Bronstein,
adopted a baby boy last month. They've named their
new son Roan Joseph Bronstein.
Roan
for those of you not Irish is the Celtic for "seal."
The child's second name Joseph is after Stone's father,
according to US Weekly reports.
Stone
is will more then likely bring the child to Ireland
with her later this year when she heads to Grangegorman
area of Dublin. The actress is being lined up to play
one of the lead roles in a remake of the Orson
Welles classic The Magnificent Ambersons.
Parts of Grangegorman are being transformed into turn-of-the-century
Indianapolis for the 14-week shoot. Sets are already
being built for the two-part mini-series on the site
where Neil Jordan's Michael Collins was made.
With
further names yet to be con firmed, more Hollywood
stars are expected to throng the capital when shooting
begins in July.
The
original 1942 film, shot by Orson Welles as a follow-up
to Citizen Kane, was savagely cut by the studio
before release. But film buffs will be glad to hear
that the studio has released the original Welles script
for the remake. The cutting of the original Welles
script was a disaster.
Production
manager John Phelan, a Dubliner who has worked
alongside Jodie Foster and Bruce Willis,
is delighted that the movie is being made here.
Orson
Welles began his career at 17 in The Gate Theatre
so it is appropriate that his original script is restored
and a wrong is righted in the city. There will be
roles too for Irish actors.
Anyway
back ot the gossip. Stone and her husband, who tied
the knot in 1998, found their new son thanks to an
adoption lawyer, who located an unwed teen in Texas
who wanted to give up the child. In the magazine,
Stone says she has had several miscarriages but had
planned to adopt whether or not she gave birth.
The
actress, who's been displaying her maternal side recently
in films like The Mighty and Gloria, was overcome
with emotion the first time she cradled Roan, she
tells US Weekly. "He's my wonderful, precious little
Buddha. He eats like a champion. He sleeps peacefully
- and he's the apple of his daddy's eye," she says.
She jokes about wearing baby vomit to next year's
Academy Awards. "It's my color," kids the stylish
movie star.
Roan
was born several weeks prematurely, on May 22, and
weighed 5 pounds, 6 ounces. He was adopted when he
was just a week old by Stone and Bronstein, who flew
to Texas to pick up their new son in person.
