Geldof
tackles Sex, Age & Death...
Former
Boomtown Rat Bob Geldof's new songs
tackle the deaths of Paula Yates and Michael
Hutchence according to press reports in Ireland.
The singer's next solo album, the first in 10 years,
will openly deal with the deaths of his former wife
and her lover.
Called
Sex, Age and Death, it contains a number of
tracks concerning the disintegration of Geldof's marriage
to Yates, the subsequent suicide of Hutchence, and
Yates's death by drug overdose.
On
a track called Inside Your Head, Geldof asks:
"Why put a noose around your neck?/What the f*ck's
going on inside your head?"
The song also includes lyrics capturing Geldof's reaction
to the end of his relationship with Yates: "You
got the gold, I got the lead/You got the juice, you
left me the dregs/You got the palace, I got the shed/You
got a life, you left me for dead/What the f*ck's going
on inside your head?"
Talking about the album, Geldof comments: "Some
things are unsayable, but maybe I can articulate them
in music."
The album is expected to be released in September
and has been produced by Queen drummer Roger
Taylor.
Ray's
Comment: Go Bob, 'bout time you got all that
off your chest - just hope the public will sympathise
with your pain and not turn on you... Having admired
your resolve over the past number of years I am a
tad shocked that much bitterness lies beneath as is
sooo strongly illustrated in your fu*king lyrics...
I'd avoid touring this one in Australia!!!
