Ireland left out at Dance Music Awards...

Ireland's dance scene may be buzzing but the Emerald Isle failed to pick up even one award at the Dance Music Awards in London on Wednesday night. Chart act Spiller was celebrating however after picking up three major titles at an awards show to celebrate the best in dance music from around the world.

The group, featuring lead singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor, were named best house act and best chart act while their single Groovejet (if this ain't love) - a chart-topper which became the soundtrack of the summer - was named the year's best.

Other big winners at the DanceStar 2001 awards in London last night included top DJ Carl Cox, who took a pair of prizes, as best club DJ and outstanding contribution to worldwide dance music.

Dance diva Sonique, who had a string of hits last year including the number one It Feels So Good, was named dance star of the year.

King of the decks Fatboy Slim, who was shortlisted for five titles, walked away with the award for best breakbeat/eclectic act.

Ibiza nightclub Space was named the best club while Liverpool nightclub Cream won best club night for Bugged Out.

Guests at the event included former Another Level star Dane Bowers and Page Three girl Jordan.
