The final stages of Paul McCartney's wedding day was like a scene from a soap opera for those looking in from abroad, but here in Ireland we call this type of family behaviour "Traditional".

Sir Paul's two daughters Stella and Mary both left the wedding early to show how unhappy they were at their father marring a girl who is only two years older than Mary.

Friends of the sisters admitted to the press that the girls only went to the wedding under duress to support their father and left only when they thought it was polite to do so... A full three hours before midnight when the party really got going.

From the start the children made sure the world knew how much they disagreed with the wedding and in the end everyone got the message as they walked out.

Sir Paul sang on stage during the wedding, as did Heather who sang the Beach Boys classic God Only Knows.

The couple are to release footage of the wedding at the end of Sir Paul's DVD of live shows in America.
