From
REM to The Zutons...
Well
there really was a fabulous wealth of international
music acts around Dublin over the past few days playing
festivals and venues around the city - here's a short
roundup...
REM PLAY ARDGILLAN CASTLE
|
Ireland
may be a tiny blot on the map of the world but we
still manage to attract quality acts from all genres
to our little country on a weekly basis - and they
keep coming back for more!
MOBY PLAYS ARDGILLAN CASTLE
|
Maybe
it's the vibe of the Irish crowd, maybe it's colour
of our money or perhaps we're just a stop-off on the
way to the UK and the rest of Europe?
MEATLOAF PLAYS ARDGILLAN CASTLE
|
But
who are we to complain when you have the likes of
REM and Ex-Smashing Pumpkins frontman
Billy Corgan all trying to pull rival crowds
to their gigs - you really can get bang-for-your-buck
these days in Dublin...
STATUS QUO PLAYS ARDGILLAN CASTLE
|
And
remember this is all still a buildup to the three
massive U2 concerts going down in Croke
Park this weekend!
ABI HARDING FROM THE ZUTONS PLAYS ARDGILLAN
|
Last
weekend there was a fantastic lineup at Ardgillan
Castle with REM, Moby, Meatloaf, Status Quo
and numerous other bands to quench your outdoor festival
thirst...
BILLY CORGAN PLAYS THE AMBASSADOR
|
Also
lighting up the Ardgillan stage were Liverpool's latest
emerging band The Zutons - definitely ones
to watch - plus their Saxophonist Abi Harding
is the cutest girl on the planet which, is always
a bonus.
KRIS KRISTOFFERSON PLAYS THE OLYMPIA
|
And
if any of you keen music fans happened to catch former
Smashing Pumpkin Billy Corgan at The Ambassador
at the weekend then we take our hats off to you
- the man is an enigma!
Oh
and we nearly forgot to mention that Country &
Western legend and Blade star Kris Kristofferson
played the Olympia in the past number of days - now
there's a man who's lived his life...
