EXCLUSIVE
LOVE,
HONOUR AND OBEY...
INTERVIEWS
WITH THE CAST AND REVIEW OF THE MOVIE - RELEASE DATE
IRELAND APRIL 7
Following
in the footsteps of The Grays and Lock, Stock and
Two Smoking Barrels, Love, Honour and Obey is yet
another cockney gangster movie. The only difference
is this one has a dash of comedy.
Written,
Produced and Directed by Dominic Anciano and Ray Burdis.
The film stars Sadie Frost, Ray Winstone, Johnny Lee
Miller, Jude Law, Denise Van Outen, Sean Pertwee,
Kathy Burke and Rhys Ifans.
In
short Love, Honour and Obey is riding on the coat
tails of the 1998 hit Lock, Stock and Two Smoking
Barrels. Don't take our word for it, take the word
of Ray Burdis one of the men who, wrote, produced
and directed it. "It is riding on the coat tails of
Lock, Stock," Burdis told showbizireland.com.
"But, that's not the worst thing I feel.
The
film is based on the loner who wants the make into
the world of the big time gangster in the underground
London of today. Johnny (played by Johnny Lee Miller-sickboy
in Trainspotting) dreams of leaving his dead end job
as a courier. Through his best friend Jude (Jude Law)
nephew of the notorious crime lord Ray Kreed (Ray
Winstone) he wins his way into the toughest gang in
North London. Hungry for some real gangster action
, Johnny sparks a deadly feud between Ray's gang and
another firm in South London. When a full scale war
erupts between the two sides, culminating in a murder
at Ray's wedding, Ray and his opposite number in South
London both decide the Johnny must be stopped at all
costs.
Making
her movie premier in Love, honour is former Big Breakfast
presenter Denise Van Outen. Van Outen plays the role
of Maureen the sex bomb girlfriend of Dominic Anciano's
character. "Fortunately she's from Essex and a bit
of a flirt. Rather like an exaggerated version of
myself, so it wasn't too difficult to play" claims
Denise.
Speaking
to showbizireland.com in the Dorchester hotel
in London Van Outen admitted that she was nervous
about appearing in such steller company.
"I'm
the least experienced actor here and the first day
I was just so scared." She recalled. "My first scene
was with Kathy Burke, who is one of my favourite actors
and I was terrified. But she was lovely and made me
feel really comfortable."
Having
got over that Denise says she then got into the movie
and the improvisation. "It forces you to be really
on the ball and to think really quickly all the time.
I think my years on The Big Breakfast really helped
with that. I mean that was a three hour live show
with no script."
All
in all a good night out at the movies. A dash of comedy,
the odd bit of violence and overall good acting. It's
not the Godfather but it is definately worth spending
a fiver and two hours on.
