Begorrah! Crowe's from Clare...

Ireland may now have a Oscar nominee afterall!! The Australian born actor Russell Crowe has spoken for the first time about his family claiming that his name "Crowe" comes from County Clare in the west of Ireland. The actor who is nominated for an Best actor Oscar for his role in the epic Gladiator was speaking to the Irish press recently in London and confirmed that he has in fact Irish roots.

"I only recently found out recently that my family name Crowe originated from County Clare. I want to visit Ireland very soon but I don't want to just drop in and out. I'd like to go for a period of time and really soak up the culture and maybe take in a few rugby games."

The actor also revealed that he still remains friends with his co-star in Proof of Life and his ex-girlfriend Meg Ryan."We still talk. She is a beautiful and courageous woman with a wonderful mind and we like to chat."

Russell also said that the end of her last relationship with actor Denis Quaid was nothing to do with him.
