Jeremy Irons the lifesaver...

Hollywood legend Lauren Hutton credits her motorcycle riding pal, the Irish based actor Jeremy Irons, with saving her life when she crashed during a ride in the Nevada desert. Just three minutes before the crash Irons had given her a helmet with a large visor. "Thank You, Jeremy!" she said on American television.

"He saw I had tears from the wind and no visor so he pulled out a huge full-visor helmet that saved my life." Hutton, whose, new BMW 650 hit some rocks while going around a curve, added: "I went up 20 feet into the blue. The motorcycle was in millions of little pieces."

The actress's right arm and leg where shattered and she has used a crutch since the accident on October 21 last year. She is soon to undergo bone-cell grafts because her bones are not growing back as fast as hoped.

Irons lives in Cork in a restored castle with his wife Irish actress Sinead Cusack.
