Geldof
sells DeckChair.com...
The
Irish rocker with the golden touch Bob Geldof
has sold his Internet company deckchair.com
for £10 million. The former Boomtown Rats singer
and the man most famous for being the brains behind
Live Aid which raised millions for the starving
in Africa back in the 80's has made the £10 million
in just two years.
The
company was bought by one of it's biggest rivals World
Travel and the newly sold website boasted some
very high profile interests which included pop promoter
Sir Harvey Goldsmith, as well as the family
behind Marks and Spencer, the Seiffs.
Geldof
who already made a considerable fortune with his TV
company Planet 24 which he sold and who's programs
included the Channel 4 hit The Big Breakfast,
set up deckchair.com after he could not book an airline
ticket on line.
At
the time the singer said "Irritation is usually the
spur for me to do something. That is why I created
deckchair.com."
