Billy
Bob Traces the Irish in Him...
It
has been reported in the Irish press that music and
film star Billy Bob Thornton wants to join
the trend of Hollywood celebs tracing their Irish
roots.
Currently in Ireland preparing for his upcoming gig
this Monday night, he professed his wish to find out
his ancestors.
"My
dad's people are Irish, and I want to find out exactly
where they're from. My assistant is on the internet
trying to look it all up for me. There's a bit of
Irish on my mother's side too, but the rest is American
Indian and Italian", he said.
With movies such as Armageddon and Man Who
Wasn't There under his belt, and the soon to be
released in Europe Monsters Ball (for which
Halle Berry recently won Best Actress at the
Oscars), Billy Bob is also an accomplished
singer / songwriter.
His
current album, Private Radio, has had critical
acclaim in the U.S. He revealed: "I'm the luckiest
man in the world. I once lived the life of a hobo
and now I’m married to the love of my life. I also
do the work I want – making movies and writing songs".
Billy
Bob's gig on Easter Monday was due to be held in the
intimate Shelter venue but has since changed
to the larger Vicar Street venue next door,
such was the demand for tickets.
Explaining
his reason for beginning his European tour in Ireland,
he said: "There’s a great tradition of story
telling in Ireland. And my show is very down-to-earth.
I don't need a big stage for dancers or anything like
that".

night, so be sure to check out our reports back!
