Bono's 40th Birthday Bash...

On Wednesday Bono is celebrating his 40th birthday with a private party in the company of his wife Ali and the family. But, proving Bono still knows how to party last week Bono and the boys Guggi, Gavin Friday and Simon Carmody plus a few more hit Cannes in the South Of France to celebrate the aging popstars coming of age.

Note... coming of age is normally 21 but in Bono's case we'll make an exception especially when U2 try and out do everyone. The bands manager Paul McGuinness told ShowbizIreland.com that the boys are getting set to go head to head on the Internet with Celia Larkin by launching U2.com.

Celia is getting a free website on ShowbizIreland.com this summer and U2 now plan to launch their own Irish showbiz site about themselves.

But then again we are after all a showbiz nation aren't we?

Anyway, remember where you heard it first about Mick Jagger taking advice from Bono about getting into the movie industry in a secret meeting in Reynards a few weeks ago. Well since taking Bono's advice Mick's production company Jagged is set to expose the music industry with a no holds barred movie called The Long Play which he has co-written with Hollywood legend Martin Scorsese (who's daughter also just happens to be a student here in Trinity college.)

One wonders was it something Bono said?
