Keating,
Corrs, & Westlife Party in the Park...
Ronan Keating, The Corrs and Westlife
are set to join American singer Christina Aguilera
for her her first UK concert at London's third annual
Party in the Park, ShowbizIreland.com
can reveal.
Pop
divas All Saints and Spice Girl Mel C will
also be among the other headline acts performing at
the one-day festival, in aid of the Prince's Trust.
More than 100,000 people are expected to flock to
see the 30-plus acts, who also include Brit award-winners
Travis and soul queen Gabrielle, at the
Hyde Park event on July 9.
It
will be a special treat for fans of Grammy award-winning
Aguilera, who has not played live in Britain and
who had to scrap some recent appearances due to exhaustion
caused by her grueling schedule. Attending the official
launch of the charity event today in central London,
Irish heart-throb Keating, one of the first
12 acts to be announced, inadvertently caused speculation
his chart-topping band was about to split.
The singer, who has performed at each of the first
two festivals, said: "It's exhilarating. It's
one of the best. It's one of the biggest live shows
that Boyzone ever got to do in the six years
that we were together. This year, it's an even bigger
challenge, because I'm coming back with an album myself,
and the single actually comes out the following day."
Quizzed afterwards about his use of the past tense,
Keating quickly moved to quash fears of a break-up,
saying the band had already "penciled in"
concert dates for a stadium tour next year. They were
also set to produce a four-track EP incorporating
both group and solo material later this year.
Tickets
for the annual festival, organised by an English radio
station should go on sale on Thursday morning. Last
year, all 100,000 had sold out in 48 hours. The event,
to be broadcast live on commercial radio and Channel
4, is expected to raise a record total as fans
flock to see the stars.
Other acts taking part include Texas, Savage Garden,
Destiny's Child and 18-year-old Craig David,
whose first single shot to number one.
Last
year's event featured show-stopping performances by
acts including Ricky Martin, Shania Twain, Tom
Jones, Eighties combo Madness and Mel C's
former Spice Girls colleague Geri Halliwell.
Tickets cost £20.
