Corrs
get off while Posh gets a Flop...
Irish fashion icons such as The Corrs, Sinead O'Connor
and Samantha Mumba have all escaped winning
the title "flop of the frocks" which was picked up
in the end by Posh Spice Victoria Beckham.
The
chart-topper was yesterday named flop of the frocks
in a fashion poll. The singer, famed for her skimpy
outfits, was named worst dressed celebrity for the
second year running by readers of women's magazine
Prima.
Elegant
Welsh beauty Catherine Zeta Jones was a fashion
hit after she was judged the best dresser landing
almost a third of the votes, with Liz Hurley
in second place.
A
quarter of readers who took part in the poll thought
Posh - a designer label devotee - was a frock horror.
She beat Countdown star Carol Vorderman whose
clothing catastrophes included a tiny turquoise dress
which she wore to the TV Baftas last year.
At this year's event, held on Sunday, she had learned
her lesson and opted for a more demure gown. Party-loving
Meg Mathews - former wife of Noel Gallagher
- was in third place in the worst dressed list.
Prima's
editor, Maire Fahey, said: "I'm not at
all surprised that Catherine Zeta Jones was voted
best dressed woman. She has a classically beautiful
look that most women would aspire to and can achieve.
Catherine's very pretty - but almost in a girl next
door way - and has a womanly body and is elegantly
stylish. Posh, however, has an extremely thin body
that most Prima readers most probably wouldn't want
- plus she wears wacky clothes that a lot of real
women wouldn't be seen dead in. So, unfortunately,
poor Posh gets the worst dressed vote.''
The
results, unveiled to tie in with the magazine's High
Street Fashion Awards, gave an insight into readers'
fashion choices.
Despite
a surge of interest, the thong's still the thing according
to readers who ranked the g-string as their favourite
item of underwear, with 57% opting for it. Shoes proved
to be the fashion passion for many readers with one
in eight readers having more than 30 pairs.
