Takes Over Harris Role...
Knighted Irish actor Sir Michael Gambon is
to take over from the late Richard Harris in
the next Harry Potter installment Prisoner
of Azkaban in 2004.
Michael Gambon (L) with Michael Caine recently
It
is a little known fact in the UK that celebrated actor
Sir Michael Gambon is actually Irish and was born
in Dublin despite being knighted by the Queen in 1992
- an honour normally reserved for British nationals?
Anyway,
Gambon will take over the Dumbledore role from
Richard Harris who sadly passed recently. Many thought
that Harris' old chum Peter O'Toole would take
over the role but we're sure he would be happy it
went to another Irish man.
Gambon
recently told the Ireland on Sunday newspaper:
"I was born in Cabra but my family left there
when I was six and moved to London. I grew up in Camden
Town. I once asked my father why we settled in Camden
Town and he said 'that was as far I could carry the
luggage'"
In
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban a
notorious prisoner escapes from the prison for wizards
called Sirius Black (played by Gary Oldman)
and comes looking to kill Harry. It turns out this
deadly villain has close connections to Harry's family.
