Bob Geldof returns to Ethiopia...

Former Boomtown Rat and Band Aid founder Bob Geldof is set to return to Ethiopia for the first time since his original official visit in the 80's.

The humanitarian Dubliner will jet-off today to the poverty stricken country for a week long visit, while there he will have to face the grim reality of starvation and AIDS on the population.

Geldof's Band Aid and Live Aid ventures raised over 150 million euro in the mid 80's for Ethiopia when he rallied his ShowBiz chums to come out in force for massive charity concerts and single releases.

Ethiopia has slipped back into a worse humanitarian situation since all of the attention in the 80's with the addition of the AIDS virus to its list of problems.

It is thought that Geldof wants to highlight the troubles in Ethiopia ahead of the forthcoming G8 summit in France.
