Cranberries launch MTV awards in Dublin...
The Cranberries have confirmed to ShowBizIreland.com that they will play a once off gig in the intimate venue of Vicar St, in Dublin, Saturday, November 11th 2000.
The band have been invited to perform at the 'Ericsson MTV Europe Music
Awards 2000 Party' as part of a number of events happening across Europe
prior to the MTV Awards telecast on November 16th, from Stockholm, Sweden at
8 pm (GMT) on MTV.
Tickets for the event will be available exclusively through competitions on
MTV Select, Hot Press, 2FM and the e-merge web site.
The Cranberries, who will be playing a special limited set, have recently
completed 2 months in the studio recording and mixing new material for their
forthcoming album scheduled for release in Autumn 2001. This will be the
last performance by the band prior to the birth of lead singer, Dolores
O'Riordan's second child due early February.
Speaking to ShowBizIreland.com she said "I'm really looking forward to playing at Vicar St. It's a real treat, it'll be a little different for a couple of reasons not only because I'm pregnant
and I won't be able to perform my usual stage gymnastics - it'll be a
completely different stage show but also it'll be the Cranberries first
really intimate gig since the early nineties when we played much smaller
venues."
For those unlucky fans unable to get tickets for the event, they can log
onto the e-merge site to visit www.e-merge.ie for live shots from the
performance.
The evening will be MC'd by RTE presenter, Gerry Ryan, and kicks off at
8.00pm with an acoustic set by Ireland's latest rock sensation Relish, who
wowed fans earlier this year with their debut release 'Let It Fly'. Their
new single 'Rainbow Zephyr' is currently hotting up the airwaves.
The 'Ericsson MTV Europe Music Awards 2000 Party' is brought to Dublin by
Ericsson and Eircell. Ericsson are one of the four sponsors of the MTV Music
Awards 2000.
