ICROSS Celebrity Art Auction...
The
wife of the Irish based singer Chris De Burgh,
Diane and ShowBizIreland.com are looking
for your help for the Dublin based charity ICROSS
who are giving national and international celebrities
a taste for creativity with this year’s Celebrity
Art Auction fundraiser in aid of an East African AIDS
Care Project. Based on the theme ‘Food for Thought’,
ICROSS are asking celebrities to take part in the
fundraiser by contributing a signed picture or painting
of their favourite food or drink, all to be auctioned
off at a gala event in November.
The
works of art on the menu for the charity auction will
include actress Janet Leigh’s Plate of Bolognese,
Pavarotti’s Plum Pudding, Joan Rivers
Ice Cream Sundae, Tomato Soup by Annie Lennox
and Jeffrey Archer’s Diet Coke.
British
actor Richard E. Grant used the Food for Thought
theme to make a strong message on AIDS awareness,
while Sex in City star Sarah Jessica Parker’s
drew a self portrait complete with spaghetti hair!
The charity have had a fantastic response from international
artists including Cecile Brunswick, Darrell
Black and American artist Dory Coffee whose
work is included in the collections of the President
Clinton.
All
the money raised will go to ICROSS, who have been
working in Kenya for the last twenty years. ICROSS
are implementing an innovative Aids Prevention and
Home Care programme in East Africa, which is supported
by The Elton John AIDS Foundation.
The
Celebrity Art Auction, now in its fourth year, is
the brainchild of Dubliner Ciaran Gearty, who
has become well known for his fundraising endeavours
over the last number of years.
The
ICROSS Celebrity Art Auction will take place in the
Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin on November 23rd.
