Mel C talks Westlife on Skinner...
After
another week of slagging Westlife, Spice
Girl, Melanie C has confirmed she is to
play her first solo indoor concert on Westlife soil
at the Olympia Theatre on Monday 29th January
2001. Last week at the MTV awards in Stockholm
Melanie told ShowBizIreland.com that there
was no competition between the Spice Girls and Westlife
now. This was only a week after taking a dig at the
Irish boys when Westlife beat the girls to the number
one slot in the album charts.
"There
is no competition between us or anyone," Mel said.
However on the Frank Skinner show last night
Mel started another attack on the Irish band who have
a record seven number ones, but was stopped by the
shows host.
Melanie,
best known as 'Sporty Spice' has become one
of the most famous women on earth with the Spice Girls
having sold over 40 million records worldwide.
When
the quartet took some time off recently, Melanie C
took advantage of the situation and immediately decamped
to Los Angeles to begin recording the solo album that
had lived in her mind and her dreams these past five
years.
The
result was 3 No.1 solo hits and the album 'Northern
Star', an album that doesn't merely exceed Melanie's
own expectations, but also those of everyone else
who hears it, Spice fanatic or not!
Now, in between touring with The Spice Girls,
Melanie C goes on the road under the banner of 'From
Liverpool To Leicester Square' which will actually
take her far further afield, with Dublin being among
dates in America, Australia, Japan and Europe.
