John Cusack in McCarthy's Bar?

Irish American actor John Cusack (Being John Malcovich) is rumoured to be coming to Ireland to make a film adaptation of the hit book McCarthy's Bar.

The book, McCarthy's Bar, was written by Pete McCarthy and is about his tour around Ireland exploring his heritage and stopping at every bar he came across with his surname on it.

In the movie version Cusack will play Pete McCarthy.

McCarthy told the press recently: "My agent got a call from one of the studios asking if the rights to the book were still available. He said: 'Yes, but it depends.'"

The studio says: "Well, we were thinking of casting John Cusack to be the lead."
