Top celebrities were competing for Dubliner's cash over the weekend as both David Blaine and Ulrika Jonsson went head-to-head with their book signings.

It seems celebrity autobiographies are like Dublin buses these days - you wait an eternity for one, and then a load come at once...

Two top billed releases went on the book trail this weekend, we had Ulrika Jonsson's Honest and David Blaine's Mysterious Stranger both vying for your cash and both using the same old tired promotion techniques.

Both stars went on Pat Kenny's Late Late Show on Friday night and both stars turned up in Easons Book store on O'Connell Street on Saturday for signings. Oh, and both stars stayed in the Morrisson Hotel, on the Quays of the river Liffey.

Perhaps they got the same package deal?

Both Ulrika and Blaine showed they are not afraid to mix with the common people as they both walked from their John Rocha designed Hotel to their respective signings with no security or entourage.

Ulrika was only accompanied by her PR person, whereas Blaine had his latest girlfriend Mannon to keep him warm in the chilly Dublin weather.

But who won the book war we hear you ask?

Well, going by the numbers that turned out for the stars it would seem that Mr. Blaine's magical touch won over the Dublin punters.
